Shape n Ship

for Mac, iPhone & iPad

Terms of Use

Plain English, kept as short as honesty allows.

📄

Your work is yours, and nothing charges you without being asked. Free for your first three projects, each with up to 15 tracked items (bugs and features combined) and one release — idea through building and testing. There is no trial. Pro — a one-time unlock you keep, or a yearly subscription — removes those limits and unlocks shipping and promotion. Either way your data stays visible and exportable, and we never delete it. These terms spell out the details.

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of Shape n Ship, an application published by Frowning Gorilla Ltd ("Frowning Gorilla", "we", "us"), a company registered in England and Wales. By downloading or using Shape n Ship, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

These Terms supplement, and do not replace, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (EULA), which also applies to your use of Shape n Ship as an app obtained through the App Store. Where these Terms and Apple's standard EULA differ, the stricter protection of your rights applies.

What Shape n Ship is

Shape n Ship is a tool for organising and tracking the lifecycle of software projects — apps, releases, bugs, features, and promotion. It also generates text prompts that you can choose to use with a third-party AI assistant of your own.

Shape n Ship helps you structure your work and ask better questions of the tools you already use. It does not provide professional, legal, financial, or technical advice, and it does not guarantee any particular outcome for your projects. Any decisions you make — including how to build, price, market, or release your own apps — are your own.

Your content

Everything you create in Shape n Ship is yours. It is stored in your own iCloud account (or locally on your device), as described in our Privacy Policy. We have no access to it and claim no ownership of it. You are responsible for your own content and for keeping your own backups; you can export your data from the app at any time.

What it costs

Shape n Ship has a free tier and two paid options. There is no free trial, and nothing begins charging you automatically.

The lifetime unlock and the annual subscription both give you the same thing; either one is referred to below as Pro.

All billing is handled by Apple through your App Store account. You can view, manage, or cancel a subscription at any time in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your device.

Prices may change in future. Any change will be applied in accordance with App Store rules, and existing subscribers will be notified or asked to consent as those rules require.

Frowning Gorilla does not process or receive any payment information. Refunds are handled by Apple in accordance with App Store policy; we cannot issue refunds directly.

What happens if a subscription ends

The lifetime unlock does not expire, so none of this applies to it.

If a subscription lapses, nothing becomes read-only. Every project stays fully visible and fully editable, and nothing is deleted. The free-tier limits simply apply again to anything new you create — more than three projects, more than 15 tracked items (bugs and features combined) in a project, or a second release — and shipping and promotion lock until Pro is restored.

Acceptable use

You agree to use Shape n Ship lawfully and not to misuse it — for example, by attempting to interfere with the app's operation, reverse-engineer it except as permitted by law, or use it to store or process unlawful content. Shape n Ship is a personal productivity tool; you are responsible for how you use it and for any content you put into it.

Third-party AI tools

Shape n Ship can generate prompts for use with third-party AI assistants. It does not send anything to those tools itself — you choose whether and where to paste a prompt. Your use of any third-party AI service is governed by that service's own terms and privacy policy, not these Terms. Frowning Gorilla is not responsible for the output, accuracy, availability, or conduct of any third-party AI tool.

Availability and changes

We aim to keep Shape n Ship working well, but we provide it "as is" and cannot guarantee it will always be available, error-free, or compatible with every future version of Apple's operating systems. We may update, change, or discontinue features over time.

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make a material change, we will update this page before the change takes effect, and the date below will show when it was last revised. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

Liability

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes any liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Subject to that, to the fullest extent permitted by law, Frowning Gorilla is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for any loss of data, profit, or opportunity, arising from your use of (or inability to use) Shape n Ship. Because the app stores your data in your own iCloud account and gives you export tools, you are responsible for maintaining your own backups of anything important.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of any protection you have under the mandatory laws of your country of residence.
